Design Thinking Challenge

Students gather around an outdoor table to discuss a group activity with poster boards and tables in the background.

Solving problems, having fun

The Royal Roads Design Thinking Challenge is an annual challenge for undergraduate students across Canada.

Teams of students use the design thinking process to develop innovative solutions for a real-world problem.

Together, they empathize with those facing the problem, create prototype solutions, test their solutions and make changes to their solution — all in a limited time.

Winning teams have invented ways to create family friendly public spaces, to lower greenhouse gas emissions for houses, and to encourage safe transit use for seniors.

Sign up for updates here, or find out how you can join the fun of imagining new ways to make the world a better place.
