Faculty of Management exam procedures

Exams can be a stressful time. Following the rules and knowing what to do can ease that stress.

We recommend you review this information before exams begin. That way you’ll be able to focus on your exam instead of on process and regulations.

Exam regulations vary depending on your faculty. These ones are for students in the Faculty of Management.

Exam rules and policies

Students are responsible for reading and following these documents:

  1. Faculty of Management Exam Rules
  2. Instructions for students
  3. Academic Integrity and Misconduct Policy for Students
  4. Online exams
  5. Exam deferral

Your instructors and exam facilitators will guide you as much as possible. But it’s your responsibility to follow the rules, policies and procedures.

Types of exams

Your instructor will let you know what type of exam you'll be writing. Students in the Faculty of Management will write exams in the following formats.

Closed book

Students can only use material provided in the exam package during the exam. Books, course materials or notes are not allowed.

Open book

In addition to the exam package, students can consult their course textbooks (any editions). You can make handwritten notes inside your textbooks. Loose notes or papers are not allowed.

Restricted open book

In addition to the exam package, students can consult select books or handouts permitted by their instructor. You can make handwritten notes inside specified textbooks. Other books, loose notes or papers are not allowed.
